Much of the chaos we see around the world, especially in countries like Pakistan, is neither intrinsic nor organic; it’s the outcome of artificial and carefully curated schemes designed to create strategic distractions to fulfill specific objectives.
Take, for example, the chaos surrounding constitutional amendments in Pakistan and how the current regime is using the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting cover to achieve its strategic goals.
There is nothing more disingenuous than these “think about Pakistan” calls by the regime and its front row cheerleaders in the media and think tanks to stop the protests due to the SCO meeting.
The SCO meeting was planned far in advance. This indicates that the regime deliberately timed the constitutional amendment maneuver around the SCO meeting to serve its ugly domestic political interests.
Imagine using the SCO meeting as a cover for “national interest” and “national security” to implement draconian laws, crack down on protests against them, and maintain a grip on power at the expense of Pakistan’s national interest.
It’s not the protestors but the regime that has sabotaged the SCO meeting and the security of the visiting SCO delegations. This move is not only highly irresponsible on the part of the current regime but also raises questions about the seriousness and credibility of the regime in the eyes of the SCO member states.
Every single day that an undemocratic and illegitimate regime continues in power, a country suffers a decade worth of regression.
